Disaster Recovery Site

The greater Phoenix and Arizona areas are widely recognized as regions that are not prone to many natural disasters or catastrophes. For this reason, many organizations may be tempted to view the location as an ideal spot to store their valuable data as part of a disaster recovery strategy. While on the surface Phoenix does have several advantages, there is more to a true disaster recovery site than physical address.

Concurrent Maintainability

Concurrent Maintainability
The power and cooling systems of Phoenix NAP include several designs that enhance the overall resiliency level of the datacenter and its operational uptime. Four 10 megawatt feeds run along two divergent paths to deliver true A side and B side power. A bi-directional closed water loop efficiently pumps chilled water from two sides while removing heat. These and many other redundancies are prevalent throughout the power and cooling distribution systems, both of which also feature concurrent maintainability.

Any part or parts of the power or cooling distribution chains can receive maintenance without requiring large segments of them to be taken offline. This concurrent maintainability enables Phoenix NAP to remain a fully-functioning next generation datacenter during routine repairs. For instance, the bi-directional closed water loop includes multiple valves. If a part of the pipe needs to be fixed, it can be isolated using the valves, repaired, and reintegrated without forcing the entire pipe to be drained and/or shut off. Likewise, the power distribution system features redundant transformers (among other redundancies), allowing for one to be repaired while the others remain operational.

Phoenix NAP also incorporates equipment from CPI and APC to further reinforce its high-quality physical infrastructure levels.

Disaster Recovery and Business Continuity Solutions

The attributes of the Phoenix NAP facility are specifically designed to promote optimal uptime. While that is a critical component of any disaster recovery (DR) or business continuity (BC) solution, there is much more to consider, such as hardware and software systems.

To that end, Phoenix NAP has partnerships with industry-leading organizations specializing in DR and BC services to enable clients to get an excellent solution at a premier datacenter that is in an ideal location. See our Partners page for more information.
